‘IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA 4K’, the first lyric opera in the world to be captured in UltraHD 50p – High Dynamic Range – Wide Color Gamut, is distributed by 01 DISTRIBUTION in the theatres of the following countries: Italy but also France, Belgium, Monaco, Switzerland, Germany, Uk, Usa, Spain, Japan, Korea and Australia.
In Italy the famous opera by Gioachino Rossini – celebrating 200 years from the premiere which took place on February 20, 1816 at the Teatro Argentina in Rome – will be projected on March 15th, at 19:45, in 67 theaters.
Co-produced by DBW COMMUNICATION together with RAI COM, the opera has been realized and post-produced in HDR (High Dynamic Range), the new development of 4K format.
The new standard HDR allows to reproduce, on a 4K HDR-enabled Tv set, a brightness level of over 1.000 cd/m2, versus 100 cd/m2 of the standard HD TVs. With higher brightness come better colors (from 16 millions to more than 1 billion).
DBW Communication has finalized two HDR versions of ‘Il Barbiere di Siviglia 4K': the first one is HDR-PQ 2084; the second one is HDR-HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma). The HDR-HLG is the backwards compatible format, jointly developed by BBC and NHK, which make it possible to broadcast a single signal/stream compatible with both non-HDR and HDR 4K televisions.
